Antonio Conte makes Chelsea admission amid their winning streak

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte insisted that Chelsea are still in the Premier League top-four race despite their position in the table.

Despite the 3-1 win over Leicester City on Saturday, Chelsea still sit 10th and are 11 points behind fourth-placed Spurs with a game in hand.

While there are still 36 points available to win for the Blues in their remaining 12 fixtures, Chelsea’s top-four chances depend on whether the teams above them will drop enough points.

Spurs, Liverpool, and Newcastle United have been rather inconsistent recently, which may help Chelsea’s case.

It also remains unclear whether Chelsea can maintain their winning streak, particularly when they will eventually have to divide their attention between domestic games and the Champions League.

Conte, however, argued that Chelsea have enough quality in their squad to pose a threat to his team’s top-four hopes.

“See Chelsea and what happen and their position,” the Spurs boss said in his recent press conference (via Football London).

“But I don’t consider Chelsea outside because Chelsea has the possibility to win the last 11 or 12 games in a row because the squad is really, really strong.

“We have to think to ourselves.”

Unlike Chelsea, however, the likes of Spurs and Newcastle will be able to focus solely on league games.

This may soon apply to Liverpool, who lost 5-2 to Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie, too.
