Arsenal manager was full of praise for “word-class” Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku’s performance against his team on Sunday.

The 28-year-old caused a lot of problems for Arsenal’s centre-back pair; Pablo Mari and Rob Holding throughout the game.

Lukaku made the most touches inside the opposition penalty box and registered more shots than any other player in the game. He was rather unlucky not to score more than one goal.

Arteta refused to blame his defenders for not being able to nullify the Chelsea striker, though.

“He has managed to do that with every defender in Europe the last 10 seasons, that is why he is the world-class player he is,” the Arsenal boss told BBC MOTD about Lukaku’s performance.

“We tried, they are a top side and that is why they won the Champions League they were the better team today.

“Even when he was tight he managed to get the ball away, we won the ball in other situations.

“With the quality players they have, they find the solutions, and congratulations to them for the way they played.”
