Arsenal boss Arteta praises 'excellent' Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea side ahead of clash

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was full of praise for Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea side ahead of Wednesday’s clash at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are unsurprisingly the favourites heading into the London derby.

They currently sit third, with a six-point cushion over fifth-placed West Ham in the top four race, and are 15 points above Arsenal in the table.

Arteta believes Chelsea’s good form is largely down to Thomas Tuchel.

“Well probably they’ve been the best team in the league in the last few months,” said the Arsenal manager in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

“What Thomas has been able to do since he arrived has been exceptional.

“He put the team in two finals.

“The way the team is looking, how solid they are defensively as well, how composed and regular they have been in their performance has been excellent.”

It is pretty clear how big an impact that Tuchel had at Chelsea since he arrived.

How he changed the system which has significantly improved the team’s defence, how he uses the senior players to lead the team, and so on.

It will be interesting to see how Tuchel picks his team for the Arsenal game, given Chelsea have an FA Cup final at the weekend as well.

Tuchel insisted that he will not rest his players for the weekend, but he might still want to limit the workload of certain key players.

The visitors, on the other hand, are likely going all out as they have to shift all their focus on finishing as high as possible in the league after the Europa League semi-final defeat.
