Bayern Munich director reveals Nicolas Jackson had another offer before move from Chelsea

Bayern Munich director of sport Max Eberl has claimed that the German giants were not Nicolas Jackson’s only route out of Chelsea.

Bayern signed Jackson on loan from Chelsea on deadline day, but the deal almost never happened following an injury to Liam Delap.

Chelsea wanted Jackson to return to London from Germany, where he was set to have his medical ahead of a move to Bayern.

In the end, that medical took place and the striker got his transfer to the Allianz Arena. However, there was a stage when Delap’s injury and rival interest had the Bundesliga outfit fearing the worst.

Max Eberl claims Nicolas Jackson had offer for permanent transfer

According to Eberl, one offer that Jackson received was even a permanent one, which Chelsea would have preferred.

However, the 24-year-old was determined to join Vincent Kompany’s side and managed to get his wish.

Speaking in a recent press conference, Eberl said: “It was actually all done, up until Liam Delap’s injury. Jacko was then clear in saying he wanted to stay. It was a big fight. He had other offers, even for a permanent transfer. But the key was that we had a player who really wanted to join us.

“It all worked out in the end, which is the most important thing. It was an intense 48 hours with lots of ups and downs, but we were really focused on making it happen and found a good solution. We’re really pleased Nicolas is here.”

It will not be too long until Jackson and Chelsea meet each other again. The Blues face Bayern in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Jackson has already sent a message to Chelsea players, stating that he cannot wait to see his former teammates.

While the Club World Cup winners could sell Jackson in 2026, another centre-forward is set to arrive at Stamford Bridge.

On Friday, Chelsea announced a pre-agreement with Emanuel Emegha, who currently plays for their sister club Strasbourg.

Nicolas Jackson responds to Uli Hoeness claim

While Eberl seems to be happy to have Jackson on board, not everyone was enthusiastic about his arrival. Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeness sounded as if he could not wait for Jackson to return to Chelsea after claiming that the Senegal international would not make 40 starts this season.

It is thought that Jackson’s loan will become a permanent transfer if he is named in Kompany’s first XI 40 times.

In response to Hoeness’ comments, Jackson told reporters (via Goal): “Obviously I know he is a big legend for this club. I have a lot of respect for him. I know him since before. My job is just to play and help the team win games. The number of games isn’t my focus. I want to achieve big things with the club.”

Like Hoeness, former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf cannot see Jackson making 40 starts either.
