Clinton Morrison has been discussing Enzo Fernandez’s role in Chelsea’s 4-3 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Enzo Fernandez was the man who put Chelsea in front for the first time on the afternoon after his excellent strike made the score 3-2 to the visitors.
The midfielder has been among the goals of late, having also netted in the Blues’ victories over Aston Villa and Leicester City.
Under Enzo Maresca, Fernandez is becoming a real match-winner for Chelsea.

Tottenham could not handle Enzo Fernandez
For Morrison, Spurs just did not know how to deal with Fernandez and Cole Palmer.
According to the former Crystal Palace forward, the pockets Fernandez was finding caused Tottenham so many problems.
While covering the game for the BBC, Morrison said: “Enzo Fernandez is causing Tottenham all sorts of problems in the pockets. [Pape Matar] Sarr and [Yves] Bissouma don’t know whether to pick him up or Cole Palmer.”
After a difficult transition from Benfica to Chelsea, Fernandez is starting to convince his critics.
Enzo Fernandez starting to become a more productive player
All in all, Maresca is getting a lot out of Fernandez right now, more than what Mauricio Pochettino and Graham Potter got from him.
The Chelsea manager deserves a lot of credit for how he has been utilising Fernandez and the transformation the 23-year-old has undergone in recent weeks.
His goal against Tottenham means that he has already matched his tally from the last Premier League season.
Fernandez has also surpassed the number of assists he registered in all competitions last term, showing his improvement.
| Competition | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Premier League | 14 | 3 | 3 |
| Conference League | 2 | 0 | 3 |
| Conference League qualifiers | 2 | 0 | 1 |
| Carabao Cup | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| Total | 19 | 3 | 7 |
| Competition | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Premier League | 28 | 3 | 2 |
| Carabao Cup | 7 | 2 | 0 |
| FA Cup | 5 | 2 | 1 |
| Total | 40 | 7 | 3 |
This season, Palmer and Moises Caicedo have been Chelsea’s two most important players. The former continues to score goals for the Blues, as he did against Tottenham, while the latter is holding it down in midfield.
If Fernandez can maintain this influence he is having in games, though, then he could become as vital to this Chelsea team as Caicedo.
Palmer remains on a level on his own for now. However, Maresca would still like to see Palmer improve in one area, feeling that he has to learn how to deal with being man-marked better.
