Danny Murphy believes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deserves another chance to prove himself alongside the “creative” players Chelsea recently brought in.
Another week and another pundit has voiced his concerns over Chelsea’s poor goalscoring record this season.
Having scored just 23 goals in 22 matches, the Blues are by far the lowest-scoring team in the top half of the Premier League table.
Alan Shearer is even convinced that as long as Chelsea do not have a reliable goalscorer to lead their line instead of Kai Havertz, they are not going to get any better.
In response, Murphy argued that Graham Potter may want to reintegrate Aubameyang into the team.

“They’ve got a number nine in Aubameyang,” the former Liverpool midfielder told BBC MOTD.
“He [Potter] obviously doesn’t like him [Aubameyang] or his attitude is wrong, but he has proved many, many times that he can score goals with creative players in the team.
“When he had his little run in the team, they were struggling. They didn’t have the creative players they’ve got now
“But now he’s in the stands doing nothing.”
Murphy might have made a very good point. Aubameyang has only made 11 appearances for the Blues in the league and had only one start in 2023.
Playing alongside creative players such as Enzo Fernadez and Joao Felix can only benefit Aubameyang.
Potter also has 20-year-old David Datro Fofana, of course, but he still lacks experience at the top level.
Neither Fofana nor Aubameyang will be available for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund, however, so Havertz is likely to keep his spot for this game, at least.
In the league, however, Aubameyang should have his chance.
