BBC pundit Danny Gabbidon was critical of Chelsea forward Joao Felix’s finishing in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
Blues manager Graham Potter came up with a few surprises in his team selection, and Felix‘s playing up front ahead of Kai Havertz and Mykhailo Mudryk is arguably one of them.
Of course, Felix is capable of playing in this position, but he proved to be most effective when he played behind a striker with the freedom to roam.
Former West Ham defender Gabbidon also highlighted the Portugal international’s poor finishing in the game.

“Chelsea just miss a clinical finisher,” Gabbidon told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“It’s like they’re trying to score the perfect goal.
“Felix has had multiple chances but he’s just not clinical enough.”
In fairness, Felix was not Chelsea’s biggest problem in the final third and he arguably did better compared to their other attackers.
The Atletico Madrid loanee caused a lot of problems for Villa defenders with his dribbling, completing seven take-ons in the game.
He was never really close to scoring, however, as Gabbidon pointed out, despite his managing five shots.
