Former Premier League defender Martin Keown has been speaking about Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke’s relationship at Chelsea.

Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke both managed to score in their side’s 5-1 win against Southampton on Wednesday.

The former was also able to find the back of the net in Chelsea‘s 3-0 victory last weekend after being set up by the latter.

Both players are having good seasons, though Enzo Maresca wants to see more from Madueke.

Madueke finished the Southampton game with a goal and assist, but the winger could have had a hat-trick after all of the chances that he had.

Keown was critical of one opportunity that Madueke squandered, but he still praised the 22-year-old for showing more consistency this season while highlighting his tendency to look for Palmer during games.

Speaking on Match of the Day, the Arsenal legend said: “I think there’s a consistency now to his play. He looks for Palmer whenever he can. It’s just maybe there’s a bit of an arrogance. Look at this finish here, look, maybe he should be putting that away.”

Maresca has helped Madueke with his goalscoring, the player himself shared after Chelsea’s victory at St Mary’s.

How do Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke compare?

Madueke was the Chelsea player who carried the biggest threat on the night at St Mary’s. Again, he scored one goal, provided one assist and missed four big chances.

Overall, though, Palmer remains the most dangerous attacker in Chelsea’s squad.

No Chelsea player has scored more goals than Palmer in the Premier League, while the Englishman also has six assists. Madueke’s record currently reads five and two.

Palmer is also averaging more shots and more key passes per game than his teammate, who does beat him when it comes to dribbles.

All in all, Maresca will be glad to have both players in his squad. The Chelsea head coach also has Jadon Sancho, another dangerous attacker.

He managed to score his first goal for the club on Wednesday and after the game, Axel Disasi said the Chelsea players were happy for Sancho following his contribution.
