Ian Wright thinks Cole Palmer has levelled up since his move to Chelsea in the summer.
It’s been quite the few months for Cole Palmer, who’s gone from Manchester City fringe player to Chelsea talisman. He’s also been drafted into Gareth Southgate’s England squad this week after his first senior call-up, too.
The 21-year-old attacker is in the spotlight after a quick-fire start to his Blues career.
Chelsea fans have quickly taken a shine to the left-footed playmaker, who’s got four goals and four assists in 11 matches across all competitions so far for them. On top of the goal contributions, he’s lit up Stamford Bridge with his carefree attitude when he steps on the pitch, which is combined with supreme individual talent.

High praise
Speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty show, Ian Wright singled out Chelsea’s Palmer for his progress during the space of a few months in West London.
Wright said: “When you look at him and what he’s done up to this point, he would be nowhere near the England squad if he stayed at City. Now, he’s played a few games [for Chelsea], and he’s in the England squad… His career is already in beast mode.”
Brave Cole Palmer is reaping the rewards
Palmer could have stayed at the Etihad Stadium collecting countless medals and learning under Pep Guardiola at Man City. However, the ambitious youngster clearly felt ready to make his impact on the Premier League on a weekly basis.
Speaking via FIVE’s YouTube channel this week, Rio Ferdinand hugely praised Palmer for his impact so far at Chelsea.
It would be great to see the rising talent make his senior England debut during this international break. From what we’ve seen of him so far, he’ll enter the Three Lions camp with extreme confidence. It’ll help knowing all the Chelsea and Man City players, too.
It’s a relief to see that the Blues do now have a creative thinker in their XI capable of producing that special pass or dribble from nowhere.
