Ben Chilwell has raved about Chelsea teammate Timo Werner, as well as making a comparison between him and Premier League strikers Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane.
Werner, 24, was one of the high-profile signings that the Blues made in the summer transfer window and he’s quickly become a favourite at Stamford Bridge.
The German forward has scored eight goals in 12 games across all competitions so far in a Chelsea shirt and has established himself a nailed-on starter under manager Frank Lampard.
Chilwell, who exited the King Power Stadium in the summer, previously played alongside Leicester City talisman Vardy and has compared Chelsea’s frontman to him in terms of their raw pace.
Meanwhile, he has also pointed out similarities between Werner and his England teammate Kane, who has been so successful at club level with Spurs for many years.
Vardy and Kane have scored a combined tally of 261 Premier League goals between them, which goes to show how highly Chilwell rates his new teammate at Stamford Bridge.
“I’d already say he’s up there with them two [Kane and Vardy] and he can definitely go on to be absolutely world-class for a long time for the next 10 years or so,” said in a newly released video that was recored last weekend.
“I think when you look at his age and how prolific he is in front of goal, even now his start to Chelsea he’s scored a lot of goals already. Just in front of goal he’s so good.
“He has similar characteristics to both Vards and Harry to be fair. In terms of running the channels and how quick he is it’s similar to Vards. With Harry his link up play and is finishing is similar. He’s definitely in a category with them two.”
Werner moved to English football in the summer as someone that was already proven in Germany and he left RB Leipzig with a phenomenal record of 95 goals in 159 games.
He’s all got all the attributes to be a hit in the Premier League with his pace, intelligence and finishing, which is why Blues supporters are extremely excited to watch his future play out.
