Ben Chilwell has hailed Chelsea teammate Thiago Silva as such a complete player and the best centre-back he’s ever played with.
Despite the fact he turns 39 next month, Thiago Silva goes into his fourth season at Stamford Bridge as an important figure in the Blues squad.
The £96,000-a-week (Salary Sport) veteran centre-back finished the previous campaign as one of the only positives.

Blues left-back Ben Chilwell, 26, rates Silva as the best centre-half he’s played alongside in his carer.
When discussing the best centre-backs he’s played with, Chilwell told Sky Sports: “I think in all aspects, I wouldn’t say that I’ve played with anyone better than him.
“I think his all-round game, leadership, how he conducts himself at the age he is now…
“I’ve played with a lot of top centre-backs, but with everything included, I’d say he’s the best.”
Silva is going to play a vital role both on and off the pitch this season, especially when you consider just how young and inexperienced this current squad is.
If you’re 20-year-old defender Levi Colwill, you should be like a sponge constantly around him to pick up all the tricks of the trade. In fairness, Colwill recently praised Silva for his calmness and quality on the pitch, as quoted by CaughtOffside.
We’ve been saying for the past three years this is season Silva will slow down, but we’re not prepared to doubt him as he goes well into his mid-thirties.
