Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has reacted to Blues supporters’ singing his name throughout the game in Saturday’s win over Leicester City.

It is safe to say that Chilwell and Wesley Fofana did not receive a warm welcome from the home supporters at the King Power Stadium.

Chilwell, in particular, had the opportunity to respond to the Leicester fans’ booing his every touch with his goal celebration.

He was not alone, however, as the travelling Chelsea supporters responded to the home fans’ hostility by singing one undeniable fact: “Ben Chilwell’s won the European cup”.

Chilwell enjoyed that.

“For sure, I love that today,” the England international told Chelsea TV when speaking about the chant.

“I love that the fans were behind us. hey have done [that] all season, and it’s a difficult season, but they’ve stuck with us.

“Today to hear them singing that song the whole game was nice for me. Gave me a little bit of a boost.

“And at the end, seeing all the fans — a lot of them travelled up the country today to support us and thankfully, we gave them three points.

“It’s just a good moment at the end when we celebrated with them, and it showed that togetherness that we’ve had.”

The left-back, however, also insisted that he still has a soft spot for his former club and their fans.

“There’s no bad blood at all,” he explained.

“I really enjoy coming back here and seeing the old faces that I used to see all the time, day to day.”
