Ben Chilwell has delivered a glowing verdict on Chelsea teammate Mykhailo Mudryk.

Signed for £89million (BBC) back in January, Mykhailo Mudryk went through a quiet start to his Chelsea career during the second half of last season.

Hopefully, the 22-year-old attacker can come back firing in the new campaign, where he’ll be working under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Blues left-back Ben Chilwell, 26, has opened up about the quality of his Chelsea teammate during an intriguing interview.

He’s convinced that Mudryk is an individual with huge potential and the ability to become a key figure in the Blues line-up moving forward.

Apparently, the speedster is looking very sharp in pre-season training.

“With ‘Misha’ I have seen how good he can be, and I just want to try and help him fulfil that [potential] because I know how much he wants it,” Chilwell said, as quoted by CaughtOffside. “So if I can help him in any way to reach the levels that we all know he can then why wouldn’t I do that?

“I’ve told him he hasn’t fulfilled that yet for one reason or another. I literally had a conversation with him today after training in the changing room because he’s been on fire the last few days and obviously was on fire in the game against Brighton. And I just said he needs to keep that up now for the whole season.

“He needs to decide when to cross, when to shoot, when to dribble, when to pass and hopefully I can help him along the way to try and get that decision-making [right] because he can be such a good player for us. We can all see the potential he has. It’s just trying to guide him and the last few days he’s been on fire in training. His decision-making has been bang on.”

Mudryk is impressing so far during the pre-season schedule, so we can’t wait to see him try start the new campaign with a statement performance.

He’s not scored in any of his first 17 Blues appearances, but he got off the mark with a superb strike in a friendly match recently against Brighton. At the very least that should give him a small boost!

His speed, dribbling and directness is going to cause defenders a nightmare. Like Chilwell mentions, his end product and final decision will define him as a player.

Pochettino recently called Mudryk a playerwith “massive potential” (official website), so it certainly seems like he’s got the backing of everybody around him.
