Ben Chilwell sends Chelsea teammates Borussia Dortmund message after Saturday’s win

Ben Chilwell has issued a rallying cry ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund as Chelsea secured their first win in weeks on Saturday.

After three consecutive losses, Chelsea needed their players to step up against Leeds United, and Chilwell certainly did.

The 26-year-old, whose attacking display pleased Graham Potter, created Wesley Fofana’s winning goal.

An assist should not have been as crucial as it is, but in the context of Chelsea’s goalscoring issues, it was massively important.

It is hopefully just the start of Chelsea’s winning run. Anything less on the next game, and they would be out of the Champions League.

Ahead of Dortmund’s visit to Stamford Bridge, Chilwell sent his teammates a clear message.

“Let’s take this momentum into Tuesday,” the England international wrote on Instagram after the game.

Turning around a one-goal deficit is hardly an impossible task, but considering Chelsea and Dortmund’s recent form, the odds are against Graham Potter’s men.

The Blues arguably had the better goalscoring chances in the first leg, but as has been the case with Chelsea in the last few months, they were not able to convert those chances.

There were no encouraging signs in this department in their game against Leeds, in which Chelsea missed three big chances, but hopefully the win provides the confidence boost they desperately needed.
