Ben Foster is pretty confident that former teammate Joao Pedro will be a big hit at Chelsea.
Even though the Blues are participating in this summer’s Club World Cup tournament, they’ve still been at the heart of the transfer rumour mill as well.
It’s widely reported that Brighton attacker Joao Pedro, 23, is on the verge of completing a move to Stamford Bridge.
Pedro completed a Chelsea medical on Tuesday as fans now wait for some official confirmation. Apparently, the Brazilian forward has penned a seven-year deal to become the latest star signing for Enzo Maresca’s side.

Ben Foster delivers verdict on Joao Pedro to Chelsea
According to Ben Foster, Chelsea are about to make a really shrewd addition with the imminent signing of Pedro.
The retired goalkeeper previously played alongside Pedro at Watford, and he thinks he will add a work rate off the ball that is missing in attack at Stamford Bridge.
When asked about Pedro’s expected switch to Chelsea, Foster said on his YouTube channel: “First of all, great lad. Really hard-working player. Really aggressive. Runs his socks off. Just doesn’t stop, doesn’t give the defenders a minute’s peace.
“He’s really started to add goals into his game now. He scored a lot of penalties last season, don’t get me wrong, but some of the goals he did score last season came about from real hard work and tenacity. I think Chelsea will really appreciate that. I think that’s the bit they’ve been missing with Nkunku and Jackson – that real pressing, really shutting someone down with intent.”
Ally McCoist also likes Pedro’s imminent move to Chelsea because he rates him as someone who’s an improvement on what they’ve got in the squad.
Without a doubt, he plays with an aggression and energy that could quickly make him a fan favourite. Both he and new signing Liam Delap should give the team an extra edge going into next season. It will be interesting to see how he goes about breaking into the Blues XI, though.
Chelsea’s initial plan with Pedro is to use him as a striker or a left forward, even though he’s capable of covering as a No.10 as well.

Chelsea will hope for more Brighton success
It’s crazy to look at the amount of money Chelsea have spent on Brighton players in the last few years, but it’s quite clearly a method that is working for them.
Despite slow starts in their Chelsea careers, Marc Cucurella and Moises Caicedo have proven themselves to be brilliant signings. As for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, he still divides opinion within the fanbase.
Chelsea are interested in Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan, too. Seagulls fans must be completely sick of Chelsea’s sight!
