Benzema Wanted
Karim Benzema is wanted by Chelsea this summer, as they reportedly plan a major squad overhaul. Reports in Spain have claimed that the Blues have made an offer for the Real Madrid striker, as owner Roman Abramovich is looking at potential additions to the squad. Real Madrid are set for a squad overhaul themselves this summer, with a number of players targeted by the club. Benzema could be one of the players to depart the Bernabeu in the summer, and would be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.
Lascelles Links
Another player that Chelsea are keen on bringing to the club this summer is Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles. The Blues are interested in the centre-back, and see him as a potential replacement for John Terry. Chelsea are reportedly keen on Lascelles for his leadership skills, and good defensive capabilities. The 24-year-old has impressed at St James’ Park since making the move from Nottingham Forest, and Chelsea could make an offer for him in the summer. It is believed that any fee for the defender would be at least £30 million for Newcastle to even consider.
Conte “Looking Foward” to Leaving
Former Chelsea player Gianluca Vialli says that current manager Antonio Conte is “looking forward” to leaving Chelsea. Vialli, a former teammate of Conte, believes that he won’t be in charge next season, saying:
“There is no longer that sacred fire that characterised all of Chelsea’s performances last season.
“It seems to me that the attitude is different, maybe because they are not in the running for the title and so they stopped believing.
“I think Antonio has got problems such as sharing his choices with the club during transfers. I think the players see this.
“I would be surprised to see Conte at Chelsea next season because I think he is almost looking forward to leaving, and I also think that Chelsea want to change, they want something new, maybe a manager who is more of a corporate man – people have been talking about Luis Enrique.”
Should Conte depart Stamford Bridge this summer, Vialli says that there will be a lot of interest in him, and he wouldn’t be short of offers.
“Antonio, I don’t know, maybe Paris Saint-Germain. I guess clubs will be queuing up for him, so many clubs will want him, also our national team.
“I think Antonio will find a place to start working from and will win something important.”
