Eidur Gudjohnsen has singled out Frank Lampard as the most special teammate he played with at Chelsea.
Eidur Gudjohnsen and Frank Lampard were both part of a very successful Chelsea era during Jose Mourinho’s first spell in charge as manager.
The duo helped win back-to-back Premier League titles between 2004-06, winning the hearts of supporters at Stamford Bridge as well.

Icelandic striker Gudjohnsen has now waxed lyrical about Lampard’s talent.
When asked the best player he’s played with, Gudjohnsen told Sky Sports: “Absolute best player, I’d say Frank Lampard. If we go outside the Premier League it’s obviously the best player in history, Messi.
“Frank came into Chelsea and we signed him for £11million at the time, which was quite a big fee. He came in and I always remember having a discussion with Jimmy, I said: ‘We paid £11million for him. I’m not sure’. How wrong was I? Showing his desire, pure work ethic, professionalism, every day pushing himself.
“…I looked at him, the way he pushed himself everyday, it transmits into the team. Plus, let’s not forget about his ability as well. If you combine those two that’s what makes a Premier League great, in my opinion.”
Super Frank Lampard is Chelsea’s best
There’s plenty within the Chelsea fanbase that pin legendary midfielder Lampard as the club’s best ever player. If he’s not top of the pile, we would be amazed if he’s not on the podium for every supporter that watched him play.
It’s great hearing comments from past teammates of Lampard that know just how hard he worked on and off the pitch.
We’ve enjoyed some special individual footballers in recent decades with the likes of Eden Hazard and Gianfranco Zola. It’s hard to explain just how integral and talented Lampard was in his playing career, though.
