Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea staff have been really impressed in recent weeks by Marc Cucurella.

He took to Twitter to state that his performances in training as well as on the pitch have been particularly strong in their views.

It is now two starts in a row for Cucurella, and they have resulted in the two most impressive victories of the season so far.

A 1-0 win at home to Brighton saw him play his first game in the originally unrecognised right-back role.

Coming up against a strong opponent in Kaoru Mitoma, the Spaniard dominated the battle down that side and helped his side get back to winning ways.

This performance was enough for him to continue in that position when the Premier League returned. Both Reece James and Malo Gusto were unavailable for selection.

After another strong display, the Blues picked up the bragging rights in the West London derby with a 2-0 victory.

Chelsea coaches impressed by Cucurella

Despite fan feeling being at an all-time low just weeks ago regarding Cucurella, he is beginning to turn things around slowly.

Romano has claimed that he has already started doing so with the coaching staff, who have been very impressed recently.

He said: “Ben Chilwell expected to miss the next 2 months due to hamstring injury. He could return in December but it’s not guaranteed yet.

“Blow for Poch but Chelsea coaching staff have also appreciated Cucurella’s performances, training best way. Three games started, three wins.”

The injury to Chilwell will certainly open up the route to his strongest position a bit more.

However, the manager has seemed to be really impressed by Levi Colwill in that role, having played him there for the majority of the season.
