Samuel Eto’o thought Mason Mount could conclude his excellent campaign with Chelsea by affecting the Champions League final result.

Whilst the managerial pair have previous in such grand occasions, plenty of their players will never have featured in such a high-stake finale.

Two of those looking to light up the footballing stage once again is Mount and City starlet, Phil Foden.

Plenty of the pre-match hype has been centred around the talented pair, a battled that’s billed as the bid to become England’s golden child.

Mount versus Foden

Eto’o felt Mount or Foden would play a key part in their respective side’s eventual success this weekend.

“For the young players such as Phil Foden and Mason Mount, this will be their first time playing in such an important game,” said the former Chelsea forward.

“Despite their age, both players have had impressive seasons and could have a big impact on the outcome.

“There are many great players past and present who haven’t had these opportunities, so it is important for the players to savour the experience and do everything they can to have an influence on the game.”

Echo the words of Eto’o

The coveted Cameroonian knows more about winning the Champions League than most.

He was a winner twice with Barcelona and once at Inter Milan, plus he scored in two separate finals.

One of those victories was achieved under Guardiola, the other with ex-Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho.

His first triumph was achieved at the age of 24, not much older than Mount and Foden are now.

If the youthful duo were to take anyone’s words as gospel, it should from Eto’o.
