Frank Leboeuf has been comparing one Chelsea target and Spain star Lamine Yamal.

Lamine Yamal was one of the standout performers at Euro 2024.

The Barcelona winger played a big role in Spain winning the tournament, coming up with a huge goal in their semi-final tie against France.

He equalised for Luis de la Fuente’s side, cancelling out Randal Kolo Muani’s opener with a fantastic strike.

Without him, Spain may not have won the European Championship trophy. Yet Leboeuf still thinks one of his teammates had a better tournament than him. Chelsea are said to have an interest in two of the 16-year-old’s compatriots.

Frank Leboeuf makes big claim about Chelsea target

It has been claimed that Chelsea are interested in Dani Olmo.

The RB Leipzig star, though, is not the only Spain international the Blues appear to be looking at.

It is being reported that Chelsea could make a move for Nico Williams this summer, depending on what happens between him and Barcelona.

And Leboeuf thinks the Athletic Bilbao winger was actually better than Yamal at Euro 2024.

Speaking about the pair on ESPN FC, the Chelsea legend said: “Overall, I think Nico Williams has been better than Lamine Yamal for me. He has been more consistent.

“Lamine Yamal made a huge impact against France and showed his talent to the world, that’s for sure, but overall consistently, if I have to choose between the two, I will go for Nico Williams because he was a big surprise.”

According to TEAMtalk, Williams has a €58m (£48.7m) release clause in his contract.

Did Nico Williams outperform Lamine Yamal at Euro 2024?

Williams managed to score for Spain in the final, finishing the tournament with three goal contributions.

Yamal, on the other hand, managed to record five, with four being assists.

Yamal also completed 2.7 key passes per game, more than any other Spain player bar Alex Grimaldo (3.5), and had the third-highest average match rating (7.61) on WhoScored, above Williams (7.39).

Ultimately, a lot of people would still say Yamal was better than Williams at the Euros, especially considering the fact that he is just 16 years of age.
