Chris Sutton has made his score prediction ahead of Chelsea against Nottingham Forest this Sunday.

The Blues travel to the City Ground on New Year’s Day to face Forest in an important Premier League match.

For Chelsea, they should feel serious pressure to get a win because a double header with Manchester City in the league and FA Cup lies just around the corner.

Graham Potter’s side are eighth in the league right now and need to try close the six-point gap to fourth spot.

Meanwhile, upcoming opponents Forest are 19th in the division table and face a relegation fight this season.

Chelsea against Nottingham Forest

BBC pundit Chris Sutton has gone with a 2-1 Chelsea victory over Forest in his weekly Premier League prediction segment.

“Chelsea got a much-needed win over Bournemouth last time out, and they deserved it too,” Sutton wrote for BBC Sport.

“Chelsea’s biggest issue this season has been goalscoring but Forest have got bigger problems in that department and they don’t have enough of a threat up front.

“It feels like Forest’s hopes of staying up rest on their home form, because they are so poor away, but I can’t see them picking up any points this time. I’m going for a narrow Chelsea win.”

Chelsea have league games against both Manchester City and Liverpool in January, so surely they can afford any more slip ups against teams in the bottom half of the table.

Potter’s side have it all to do to claw themselves back into the Champions League spots. There was plenty of encouragement from the recent 2-0 win over Bournemouth, though.

With Reece James now sidelined for the next month, it’s time for other Chelsea individuals to step up.

Sutton highlighted the “biggest issue” around the Blues is their ability to score goals.

Kai Havertz, 23, is one of those Blues players the team needs to shine in front of goal. Potter did praise the forward after his goal and performance in the Bournemouth victory.
