Tony Cascarino has questioned the recent decision from Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to drop Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Hudson-Odoi, who earns £120,000-a-week, is one of the unfortunate individuals at Stamford Bridge to test positive for Covid-19. Therefore, he missed Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Everton while he was isolating. Also, he’s sidelined this weekend away to Wolverhampton Wanderers in another Premier League fixture.
However, Cascarino has been speaking about the period of time before Hudson-Odoi was forced to isolate where he spent time out of the XI.
Tuchel has shown he’s prepared to rotate his starting line-ups frequently, but the 21-year-old was named on the bench for three consecutive Premier League matches before contracting Covid-19.
The Blues speedster was looking extremely sharp with plenty of starts during October and November. It wasn’t enough to cement his spot in the XI long-term, though.
“Hudson-Odoi came out of the team, and that was a bit of a strange one. Didn’t quite get that,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.

If Hudson-Odoi can get back to starting games regularly, he can show everyone what he’s capable of.
The skilful winger was building some real momentum when Tuchel was starting him in back-to-back matches, but it feels like one step forward and two steps back.
He knows that he’s got to deliver every minute he’s on the pitch given the fierce competition in the squad in the attacking areas of the pitch.
There is no doubting he’s got all the potential in the world, with Rio Ferdinand previously highlighting that. It’s a pivotal time in his career now, though.
