Reported Chelsea target Josip Juranovic has praised Blues midfielder and compatriot Mateo Kovacic and considered him to be part of Croatia’s best-ever midfield trio.
CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs recently claimed that Chelsea continue to keep an eye on Juranosic as part of the few potential right-back targets.
Interestingly, Fabrizio Romano also previously claimed that Celtic, with whom Juranovic signed a five-year contract (until 2026) last year, are reportedly open to listening to offers for the right-back.
If Chelsea were to hope anyone can help convince the 27-year-old to move to Stamford Bridge, it would be his Croatia teammate, Kovacic.
Juranovic also clearly admires Kovacic as a player.
“We believe in ourselves, I can say we have the best midfielders ever. [Marcelo] Brozovic, Kovacic, and [Luka] Modric,” Juranovic said after Croatia’s dramatic win over Brazil (via Yahoo UK).
“If they are on their game, we can control the game 90 per cent of the time and because of that we can beat teams.”
Kovacic has established himself as a key player for Chelsea under both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, and as Juranovic pointed out, he is also very reliable in midfield.
Well, even Cesc Fabregas was impressed by the silky midfielder’s display in Croatia’s win over Brazil.
