Callum Hudson-Odoi has admitted that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard can be tough at him on times, but he is delighted at Stamford Bridge and feels it’s making him a better player.
The teenager attacker signed a five-year deal back in September to stay with the Blues and many view him as the poster boy moving forward for this young energetic team.
Lampard has started to build an exciting group stacked with young English talent, which is nicely balanced by some top experience.
Hudson-Odoi has committed his future in West London and has come through the club’s academy ranks.
The 19-year-old has had a decent start to the campaign without reaching the dizzy heights that he’s capable of.
He’s scored one goal and supplied four assists in 11 senior games so far, but is a skilful individual capable of much more.
Hudson-Odoi has detailed the great working relationship that he has with the manager.
“He is hard on me, but it’s in a good way because he wants me to improve and keep getting better,” Hudson-Odoi told the Telegraph.
“When the manager is telling me stuff, I always want to listen and improve my game because I’m not there yet. I know I can always get better and keep getting better.”
Hudson-Odoi is away on international duty with England at present and it may end up being a great opportunity to get more minutes.
In-form duo Willian and Christian Pulisic are currently keeping him out of the Chelsea XI, but fans must remember he’s still a rising talent with his future ahead of him.
Lampard is definitely the right mentor for him by the looks of his managerial career so far and he has a focus on developing youngster.
