Chelsea announced Liam Rosenior as their new manager on Tuesday, with the former Strasbourg boss signing a contract until 2032.
Having just arrived at the club, though, Calum McFarlane will be in charge of Chelsea for their game against Fulham on Wednesday night.
Peter Bankes will referee the west London derby and has previously sent off Robert Sanchez and Marc Cucurella.
Chelsea are certainly backing the new head coach 👀
Thoughts on the contract, Chelsea fans?
After their trip to Craven Cottage, Rosenior will take over from McFarlane and prepare the Blues for their FA Cup third round tie versus Charlton Athletic.

Calum McFarlane tells Liam Rosenior to expect inconsistency from Chelsea’s young players
McFarlane is set to hand over a very young Chelsea squad to Rosenior. Because the roster is so inexperienced, McFarlane has warned Rosenior that some players are going to be inconsistent.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, which has been shared by The Standard, McFarlane said: “There will always be inconsistencies with young players, and that’s probably the biggest part of the job: finding how we can make these players the best version of themselves as consistently as possible.”
Despite being such a young side, Chelsea were able to earn a point at the Etihad last Sunday after drawing 1-1 with Manchester City.
Liam Rosenior’s style is fast-paced ⏩
Does that suit this Chelsea squad?
They found themselves 1-0 down in the first half after a brilliant strike from Tijjani Reijnders and were heading for defeat. However, Enzo Fernandez popped up at the last minute and scored an equaliser.
Rodri was very critical of Chelsea following the full-time whistle, claiming that they did not do much throughout the 90 minutes.

Chelsea have fielded youngest team in the Premier League this season
To truly understand how young Chelsea’s team is, you only have to look at Enzo Maresca‘s final game in charge.
In the Club World Cup winners’ 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, their starting XI had an average age of just 23.4.
According to Transfermarkt, it is the youngest team a Premier League club have fielded during the 2025/26 campaign.
Going forward, Chelsea probably need another experienced player or two to balance things out a bit. If the Blues can find the right blend between experience and youth, they could have an amazing team.
