Mason Mount is clearly eager for the day he and Ben Chilwell can share the pitch together for Chelsea again.

Mount voiced his feelings towards his club colleague via an Instagram story yesterday.

The 23-year-old first shared his love for birthday boy Chilwell, who turned 26 on Wednesday, using some rather unflattering photos in the process.

He then rounded off the social media message with an image of the pair in Premier League action, with the caption ‘Can’t wait to see you back on the pitch’.

Hopefully Mount won’t have to hold out much longer to play alongside his English compatriot.

Chilwell has not played competitively since suffering a hamstring injury against Dinamo Zagreb at the beginning of November.

The full-back had only recently recovered from a wound that forced him to miss a large chunk of the previous campaign.

His latest problem meant he missed out on the World Cup along with fellow Chelsea defender Reece James.

James is also on the road to recovery, yet appears to be further in his schedule than his defensive co-worker.

Whilst the pair both travelled to Abu Dhabi for a training camp ahead of domestic football’s resumption, only one was involved with the first-team.

Graham Potter was boosted by James’ involvement with the squad – one that carried over to the Cobham grounds – ahead of the league restart next week.

Sadly, it seems Chilwell will not be available for the visit of Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge, as his rehabilitation continues slowly.
