Carney Chukwuemeka suggests £29m Chelsea teammate is set for a big season

It’s been a fresh start for Chelsea players yet again this summer following another change of management, so now fans wait to see who’ll make the most of that.

Blues head coach Enzo Maresca, who’s landed the job after success at Leicester City last year, is now on the brink of starting the new season. His side face Inter Milan in a friendly this Sunday before their Premier League campaign kicks off a week later at home to defending champions Manchester City.

Regardless of how the 2024/25 season plays out, it would be great to see others step up and ease the burden off Cole Palmer. His absence in pre-season has given teammates a chance to really try and impress.

Carney Chukwuemeka’s pre-season has been frustrating, with the attacking midfielder only playing two of the five games during the tour of the United States. One Blues player has really managed to catch the eye in a positive way, though.

Carney Chukwuemeka suggests Noni Madueke will explode

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke certainly had a positive pre-season trip in the US, scoring three goals as he settles nicely under the new management.

The £29m forward (Sky Sports) has uploaded an Instagram post after a successful summer so far.

Carney Chukwuemeka responded in the comment section to suggest Madueke’s in for a big season. Also, Ian Maatsen, who left Chelsea to join Aston Villa this summer, showed his support.

Noni Madueke must aim to break last season’s statistics

Madueke, who’s still only 22, just needs to show progression this year in Chelsea colours.

The skilful right-winger managed eight goals and three assists in 34 Blues appearances across all competitions last season. His aim for the upcoming campaign should be to better that, something he’s definitely capable of achieving.

His game is definitely still quite raw and he doesn’t always make the right decision, but he’s got the physical attributes to torment Premier League defences.

Speaking recently via The Athletic, Maresca admitted he doubted Madueke before joining Chelsea. It feels like those doubts are slowly drifting away, though, which is a credit to the player.
