Chelsea have now claimed that one of their players just absolutely smashed a finishing drill in training.

The 5th Stand App has stated that Mykhailo Mudryk caught the eye as the Blues looked to work on things following their heavy defeat at the weekend.

Training has likely not been too enjoyable for the Chelsea players this week after Mauricio Pochettino was left fuming with what he saw from his side last Saturday.

They were heavily beaten by Newcastle United, with only Raheem Sterling’s stunning goal a positive moment in a dire display.

The manager was particularly disappointed with club captain Reece James, after his needless red card left his players an uphill task they were never going to complete.

One player who didn’t start this game was Mudryk, who has found it harder to break into the team than perhaps he would’ve expected after being taken under the manager’s wing.

Mudryk on fire in training

An injury put an end to a good run of form he was in, and since then has made it difficult for him to break back into the starting side.

However, the club have now claimed that he seems to be looking to change that with his performances on the training pitch.

They said: “Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling were pictured at Cobham, while Mykhailo Mudryk caught the eye in a finishing drill.”

It remains to be seen whether Pochettino decides to throw the Ukraine international back into the fold this weekend when they return to Premier League action with the visit of Brighton.

He has found it difficult to break into the team above Sterling or Cole Palmer, who has been arguably the player of the season for Chelsea so far.
