One player who Chelsea have reportedly looked at this summer has been described as a “dangerous” one-on-one winger.

Chelsea are still in the market for a new wide man after missing out on Michael Olise, who has now joined Bayern Munich.

It has been claimed that Olise got frustrated with Chelsea during the Blues’ pursuit of the player.

Since missing out on the 22-year-old, the club have since been linked with the likes of Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi.

Last month, it was reported that Chelsea were trying to sign Williams after cooling their interest in Olise.

Joselu praises winger linked with Chelsea

Striker Joselu has played with some top players and come up against some.

The 34-year-old was, of course, on Real Madrid’s books last season, the European champions.

He has now been speaking about one talented attacker Real Madrid faced during the 2023/24 campaign.

Discussing Williams in an an interview with The Athletic, Joselu said: “When we met him in La Liga last season we already realised he is an absolute rocket of a player.

“In every game against Athletic Bilbao, we analysed him individually, he is so dangerous with the one-on-ones and has now added goalscoring and chance-creating to his game. Nico can leave any full-back in the world with nightmares.”

Nico Williams can show more of his talent in Spain vs France

Spain take on France in the Euro 2024 semi-finals this evening, and Williams will get another chance to show why Chelsea have been looking at him.

Williams has been one of the standout players this tournament, coming up with two goal contributions in four games.

Regardless of how he plays later, though, Chelsea signing him this summer looks unlikely.

According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have no plans to activate Williams’ release clause in this transfer window.

As per TEAMtalk, that clause is currently set at €58m (£49m), which is affordable if you are a club like Chelsea. However, things like wages and taxes also have to be taken into account.
