Cole Palmer was a big positive for Chelsea in Saturday’s home defeat against Brentford.
That is according to Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Chelsea’s momentum hit a brick wall this afternoon by suffering a 2-0 loss against Brentford in the Premier League.
It’s very alarming for the Blues that they’ve recorded just one win in their previous 13 league matches at Stamford Bridge.
Incidentally, their next home match in the league is against reigning champions Manchester City next month.

Mauricio Pochettino finds positive on crushing day
There’s no doubt that this weekend was a significant blow to the Chelsea side, who’s four-game unbeaten run across all competitions has come to a halt.
However, Cole Palmer did manage to show why there’s so much excitement around him.
When discussing Palmer in his post-match press conference, Pochettino said Football London: “He’s showing a great performance, character and personality. You know, it’s always about the team and when you don’t win. For sure he is disappointed and we are all disappointed. We are happy in the way he arrived. He arrived in the last moment of the transfer window, he’s playing like he’s here for 10 years and showing his character and personality.”
Cole Palmer shines
Palmer is the one positive talking point from the weekend.
The 21-year-old Chelsea attacker is thriving during his debut season at the club, with most of the team’s good play going through him.
He’s effective on the right wing drifting infield on to his favoured left foot, but we loved him in a central No 10 position this afternoon.
Joe Cole told TNT Sports 1 (1:25pm, 28 October) on Saturday that Palmer was the “bright spark” for Chelsea against Brentford.
The Blues need to be a lot more clinical going forward if they’re to climb the league table, but it’s great to have a creative playmaker like Palmer. He looks nailed-on in the starting line-up for the foreseeable future.
