Chelsea have not been scared to spend big money where required in order to form what they believe is set to be a team to compete at the top level for a number of years.

Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have not been afraid to back whoever is in charge of the Blues, and this has been the same story when it comes to Enzo Maresca.

The likes of Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho both started their most recent Premier League game against Aston Villa after joining the club over the summer.

It feels as if they are only going to strengthen in the upcoming transfer window if the perfect opportunity arises, with their scouts still working hard to determine if one of those chances does come up.

Chelsea interested in signing Tijjani Reijnders

Despite not being in the competition, they will no doubt be paying attention to what is going on at the top level of European football in the Champions League.

They will have been made more than aware of the brilliance of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, who has been featuring alongside numerous former Chelsea players including Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

According to CalcioMercato, Chelsea are interested in signing the Netherlands international, alongside fellow Premier League giants Manchester City and Tottenham.

Reijnders’ sensational performance against Real Madrid

Reijnders was exceptional in the Champions League earlier this season as his side won 3-1 at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid.

He has continued that form in Serie A, with Italian media describing him as a ‘magician’ for some of his performances.

Midfield is certainly a position Chelsea are well-stocked in at the minute, with them having three players who are seemingly undroppable at the moment.

Maresca found a way to start all of Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia against Villa at the weekend, and his potential gamble paid off with brilliant performances from all of them.

There is also an eye to the future, with loanee Andrey Santos likely to be amongst the first team options from as soon as next season.
