Enzo Maresca helps Leicester City sign Woyo Coulibaly

Maresca is expected to have a say in any signings the Blues make this month, however his most recent impact in the transfer market has actually been regarding an addition made by a fellow Premier League side.

Former club Leicester City have announced the signing of Woyo Coulibaly for a fee of £3m, with Ruud van Nistelrooy stating he will be coming in to provide competition for his current players.

Maresca has experience working alongside the defender in the past, with him signing him when he was in charge of Parma.

The former Manchester United striker has stated he was in touch with the Chelsea boss to ask him about Coulibaly before deciding to start him.

He said to Leicestershire Live: “Yes, I called a couple of people to speak about him. We took a lot of time to get him, to talk to him and people around him and we’re happy that it came through today.”

Maresca wants a new midfielder at Chelsea

The Chelsea boss is no doubt looking for reinforcements at his own club as he looks to turn around their recent slump in form.

It has been reported that Maresca is keen on them bringing in a new midfielder, with cover needed for the starting core including injury prone Romeo Lavia.

However, it is believed that he would be content with the return of one of their loanees currently away from the club.

Andrey Santos has enjoyed an excellent campaign at Strasbourg so far, and would certainly make an impact if he was brought back to Stamford Bridge.
