Chelsea can make the perfect signing this summer by bringing in £80m Premier League star

It feels as if Chelsea in 2024 are going to be far more methodical around any signings than they previously would have been.

It has been reported that they are weighing up strengthening in a number of positions this summer in order to give the best platform possible for new manager Enzo Maresca to succeed.

Reports have already claimed that the Italian is not keen on the addition of Victor Osimhen, despite the fact he was frequently mentioned last summer as their number one transfer target.

The club didn’t spend especially big on a striker last summer, and this saw some teething problems at the start of the campaign when Nicolas Jackson was still finding his feet.

However, he ended up with a very impressive goal tally for someone in their first season in the Premier League, and it would take a special signing to actually improve the club enough for them to make it.

One player who would certainly fit that bill though is a player they have been linked with signing for the first time today in Julian Alvarez.

Julian Alvarez would be the perfect Chelsea signing

The Manchester City man has had to fight for minutes up top with Erling Haaland, however has more than played his part in consecutive Premier League title victories.

Reports have begun to hint he may be looking for a move that gets him more game time, and he would certainly be afforded this if Chelsea made a move for him.

It was claimed at a stage last season that while they would ideally be keeping hold of the World Cup winner, they would be inclined to accept a bid of around £80m for the striker.

Signing a new player for that fee would likely rely on them making a number of sales of first team players before, but it can’t be underestimated just how much he would lift the quality of the club if he was signed.

There may already be a hint of understanding with former teammate Cole Palmer too after their brief time together at the Etihad before.
