Chelsea’s young prospect has just signed his first ever professional contract with the club this week.
There’s such a long line of success stories to come through the Chelsea academy, including a couple of current first-team stars Reece James and Levi Colwill.
Now, another Blues youngsters has made a significant step in his development by signing a professional deal.
Journalist Simon Phillips reported via Substack last month that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly values the importance of the club’s academy.

Shumaira Mheuka signs professional contract
Chelsea confirmed via their official website on Thursday morning that Shumaira Mheuka has officially signed a professional contract with them.
The 17-year-old forward has put pen to paper this week to commit his future at Stamford Bridge.
He only celebrated his 17th birthday on Sunday, and he’s now earned himself a professional deal.
Shumaira Mheuka is with the Chelsea first team
Interestingly, Mheuka is currently with Chelsea’s senior squad for their Conference League match away to Panathinaikos on Thursday evening. The teenage prospect is part of a 22-man travelling group that is in Greece for the European fixture.
Chelsea supporters are delighted Mheuka is in Athens this week, but will we see him make his first-team debut?
The English striker, who’s got the versatility to play several attacking positions, has been with Chelsea’s Under-21s team this season. However, it’s a big sign of faith that he’s already mixing it with the senior group.
Even if Mheuka doesn’t make his senior debut today, it’ll be a great learning curve to travel with Enzo Maresca’s group for a European matchday.
It’s refreshing to see that Maresca is prepared to include academy talents in his squad, which is something that supporters doubted with such a deep squad this season.
