Chelsea are certainly going to continue to strengthen their squad when the transfer window opens again, and could now add a new attacker to their ranks as soon as January.
The Blues did spend big money over the summer, but had to meet that with big sales in order to stay in line with UEFA’s guidelines after they were sanctioned by the European body.
One of the big exits the club sanctioned late in the transfer window was Nicolas Jackson, who ended up leaving on loan to join Bayern Munich.
With Liam Delap’s injury ruling him out for a number of months, there is somewhat of a shortage of striking options for Enzo Maresca to look to at the moment.

Chelsea could now add attacker to their squad in January
While it won’t immediately address the problem, it has already been confirmed by the club that they will be adding Emanuel Emegha to their ranks at the end of the season.
Despite the deal being set for the end of the season, Fabrizio Romano has stated that this could actually take place in January.
He said: “Chelsea will decide in the next months whether they want to bring Emegha into the squad in January or next summer, with both being possibilities. Juventus were one of the clubs interested, as well as Aston Villa and Bayern Munich early on.”
Given how news of his departure has gone down at Strasbourg, Chelsea could actually be doing the player a favour by signing him as soon as possible.

Emegha very unpopular at Strasbourg after news of Chelsea move
Despite being Strasbourg captain, their supporters turned on the striker following news that he was Stamford Bridge-bound.
Their manager, Liam Rosenior, admitted that Emegha was ‘devastated’ at the reaction he received, with it remaining to be seen if there is any way back for him right now.
It may be better for all involved if the unpopular transfer takes place as soon as possible, to avoid the situation becoming any more volatile.
Chelsea would also be bringing in a quality addition up top, taking the load off of Joao Pedro, as well as a returning Delap.
