Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger said he has been in touch with Manchester City ace Kevin de Bruyne following the unfortunate collision during the Champions League final on Saturday.
The 29-year-old midfielder was injured in a challenge with the Chelsea defender and had to leave the pitch just before the hour mark.
It was initially thought that he had been concussed but after further checks in a hospital, it turned to be facial fractures.
“My diagnosis is acute nose bone fracture and left orbital fracture,” De Bruyne explained on social media.
“I feel okay now. Still disappointed about yesterday obviously but we will be back.”
Obviously, it was very sad to see him leave the pitch in tears in the biggest game of his career.
Especially that these injuries, which might take weeks to heal, could put his participation in the Euro 2020 with Belgium in jeopardy.
On Sunday, Rudiger confirmed that he has already been in contact with De Bruyne regarding the incident.
“I’m really sorry for Kevin de Bruyne’s injury,” the Germany international wrote on Twitter.
“Of course this was not intentional from me.
“I’ve already been in touch with Kevin personally and I really wish him a speedy recovery and hope we can see him back on the pitch very soon again.”
Rudiger clearly knows from experience about facial injury since he has had to wear a protective mask for a while now due to a similar injury.
