Chelsea fans are all saying the same thing about Kai Havertz after his performance against Switzerland

Chelsea fans could not help but comment on Kai Havertz’s display in Germany’s 1-1 draw with Switzerland on Sunday.

Kai Havertz is still of interest to plenty of Chelsea supporters, having only left the Blues for Arsenal last summer.

He played the whole 90 minutes at Deutsche Bank Park.

Havertz was not able to score but does have one goal at Euro 2024 so far after netting in Germany’s 5-1 win against Scotland.

However, that did not stop supporters from his old club from criticising him on Sunday.

Chelsea fans question Julian Nagelsmann’s Kai Havertz decision

Julian Nagelsmann started Havertz in all three of Germany’s group stage games at the European Championship.

It has seen Borussia Dortmund’s Niclas Fullkrug have to settle for a place on the bench.

Chelsea fans, though, think it should be the other way round.

One Chelsea fan said: “Why Havertz plays instead of Füllkrug I will never understand.”

Another asked: “How does Havertz manage to start over Füllkrug?”

One supporter thinks he should now start over his teammate for the rest of Euro 2024: “So painfully obvious Fullkrug should start over Havertz for the rest of the tournament.”

Another user on X was simply puzzled by the whole thing: “I honestly don’t know how Havertz starts over Fullkrug.”

For another Chelsea fan, now is definitely the time for Havertz to be dropped: “Don’t know how Havertz has been starting over Fullkrug. Surely now Havertz gets dropped right?”

Fullkrug has done really well with the minutes he has got, scoring twice for his country at Euro 2024.

Chelsea may have signed Niclas Fullkrug in the past

Fullkrug has looked sharp at the Euros and had a pretty decent season at Dortmund.

During the 2023/24 campaign, the Germany international scored 15 goals in 43 appearances for the Champions League finalists.

Chelsea need an alternative to Nicolas Jackson, whom they relied heavily on last term. The 23-year-old played 44 times in his first season in England.

If Roman Abramovich was still at the club, perhaps Fullkrug is one name Chelsea would have considered. He is 31 now, but the Blues signed Olivier Giroud when the Frenchman was the same age.

The club’s new ownership, though, are only interested in signing young players it seems.
