Chelsea will likely be disappointed that they weren’t able to make it six wins in a row in all competitions before the international break.

The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge by Nottingham Forest, with them going behind early in the second half to a Chris Wood goal.

They did pull themselves level through Noni Madueke, however were not able to find the goal they needed to put more pressure on those sides above them.

An unchanged Chelsea side from their last Premier League outing against Brighton saw the same defence start again, with Levi Colwill being named at the heart of it.

The England international has enjoyed a really strong start to life under Enzo Maresca, with the Italian playing him where everyone thinks is his best position rather than where Mauricio Pochettino liked to start him.

Chelsea fans wowed by Levi Colwill

It was another superb performance at the back from Colwill today, with him making a fantastic block in the first half to save a certain goal.

Chelsea fans took to social media to wax lyrical about the academy graduate, who was an absolute rock at the back.

One user said: “Brilliant half from Levi Colwill yet again. Been breaking through Forest’s press with line breakers all game, organising the defence & made 2 crucial blocks.”

Another added: “Honestly so happy to see Colwill finally starting to fulfil his potential. He’s been one of the best CB’s in the league this season.”

Nino12z said: “Last season I criticized Colwill for not putting his body on the line enough and he’s improved on it this season. Excellent defending.”

Conn claimed: “Poch won’t be forgiven for making Colwill look bad. He is fantastic man.”

Finally, Mr Right said: “Levi Colwill is John Terry redemption I swear. What a defender!”

Colwill named in England squad

Colwill has more than earned his call up to the England side for the upcoming international break, with him performing right up there with the top level of Premier League centre-backs.

Chelsea fans will be praying he can avoid any sort of injury issue during his time away, with him proving to be essential to the Blues right now.
