Since Frank Lampard and John Terry’s departure from Chelsea, the only consistent member of the England squad for the Blues has been Gary Cahill.
But after the announcement of Ross Barkley and Mason Mount’s call up’s from Gareth Southgate, fans are brimming with excitement.
They have been called up for the Nations League games against Croatia and Spain in October.
In a squad brimming with youth, Mount is one of six players uncapped included.
His performances deserve this recognition as he’s been directly involved in 17 goals in his past 18 league appearances across the Eredivisie and the Championship.
As a result of working under Frank Lampard at Derby, Mount has developed as an attacking midfielder.
For Barkley, this signifies his first call up to the national side since May 2016.
The former Everton midfielder has had some tough seasons, but looks to be rediscovering some form under Maurizio Sarri.
There is even a call up for former Chelsea player Nathaniel Chalobah who has only just recovered from a serious knee injury.
So, here’s how Chelsea fans took the news that Mount and Barkley were picked by Southgate:
