After another impressive display for the England national team, Chelsea supporters were left waxing lyrical about Reece James.
It’s been a busy international break for plenty of Chelsea players, including club captain Reece James. The 25-year-old defender has started back-to-back games, beating Andorra and then Serbia in World Cup qualifiers.
Last week, English media raved about James after the right-back’s display for his country in the 2-0 win over Andorra.
He’s just followed it up by helping England secure an impressive 5-0 away victory against Serbia on Tuesday night. It’s become more and more clear that he’s the first-choice option at right-back for the national side under Thomas Tuchel’s management.

Chelsea fans adamant Reece James is the world’s best right-back
The Chelsea fanbase were full of praise for James on X after another commanding England performance. In fact, Blues supporters are convinced he’s the best right-back on the planet.
One fan wrote: “Reece James is the best RB in the world. Believe that.”
“A fully fit Reece James is the best right-back in the world,” another posted.
One supporter claimed: “For England to win the World Cup they need a fully fit Reece James. The best right-back in the world.”
“Reece James is the most complete right back in the world. No one better. Keep looking after that body and stay fit!” another said.
While most fans would discuss the likes of Achraf Hakimi, Jules Kounde and Trent Alexander-Arnold for the best right-back around, Chelsea and England star James should be in the thick of the conversation as well.
So far in 2025, James has been playing regularly for club and country, staying clear of the injuries that have disrupted his career. If he’s fully fit and available, we agree he’s unrivalled at full-back because of his all-round game.
John Terry’s assessment of James is that he’s the world’s best right-back when he’s playing consistently.

Enzo Maresca will keep Reece James for the biggest games
Blues head coach Enzo Maresca likes to rotate between James and Malo Gusto in Chelsea’s right-back position, which has worked well for the latter to keep him fit and clear of injuries this year.
They are about to embark on seven fixtures across all competitions before October’s international break. We certainly expect to see James starting against the likes of Bayern Munich and Liverpool in this upcoming run, but Gusto is a quality deputy to play instead of him as well.

Darren Bent rates James as the Premier League’s best right-back. Even so, recent history proves that Maresca will be cautious when it comes to his minutes. It makes a stark contrast to England manager Tuchel starting him whenever he can.
