Chelsea’s poor domestic form continued by losing at home to struggling Bournemouth – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter turned on defender Emerson Palmieri.

Frank Lampard’s side are slowly losing their grip on fourth in the Premier League, as the weekend’s failure to Bournemouth means they have lost four out of their last five top-flight matches.

The Blues were beaten 1-0 at home to Bournemouth, with midfielder Dan Gosloing scoring the winner late in the second-half.

It was a game where once again Chelsea lacked ideas going forward and the form at Stamford Bridge is extremely concerning.

A selection of Chelsea supporters were ripping into Emerson for his contribution and are questioning whether he should be in the XI.

The attack-minded left-back tried to get forward to help in the final third, but ultimately there was a lack of end product and he was unable to link up with winger Christian Pulisic to good effect.

Emerson was also guilty of missing the best chance in front of goal when the score was goalless, as from close-range he directed his header straight at goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

The 25-year-old has the edge over teammate Marcos Alonso for the full-back position, but didn’t do himself any favours at the weekend and has plenty of doubters in the fanbase.

There are many who feel that the left-back area is one that needs strengthening, so it will be intriguing to see if Lampard tries to do that in January now there is no transfer ban on signing players.
