Timo Werner completed 90 minutes on Thursday night in Germany’s Nations League fixture against Spain – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter were blown away by the performance of their summer signing.
Germany recorded a 1-1 draw against the Spanish and it was new Blues striker Werner that scored the opening goal early in the second-half, before Jose Gaya netted an equaliser in stoppage time.
The 24-year-old showed incredibly quick feet inside the box to manoeuvre room for himself, before he fired in a low finish for the Germans past Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
Chelsea fans watched Werner score on his first appearance for the club in a pre-season friendly against Brighton and so far his reputation as a quality goalscorer has not been exaggerated since his transfer from RB Leipzig, with another bright showing on the international stage.
The speedster lead the line effectively with some brilliant movement in behind the Spain defence, but often drifted into wide areas too to get involved in play and clearly has a great footballing brain.
His 34-goal return last season for Leipzig saw the Blues agree to pay £45million (Sky Sports) for his signature and he looks like a centre-forward that could potentially light up the Premier League.
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media watched Werner’s contribution for Germany and can’t wait to see him in action once the new Premier League season begins.
