Chelsea had to settle for an underwhelming draw away to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter did at least give attacker Pedro some praise for his contribution.

The Blues ended up with a 2-2 draw in the Premier League fixture and it means their gap over fifth could be cut down to just a single point by the end of the weekend.

Marcos Alonso opened the scoring in the first-half for the Blues with an excellent finish into the top corner, but a weak defensive display meant that the hosts had plenty of chances.

Jefferson Lerma and Joshua King both scored within three second-half minutes to put Bournemouth in front, but Alonso’s 85th minute header salvaged a point in the end.

After losing to Bayern Munich in the last 16 Champions League first leg tie in midweek, Frank Lampard’s side didn’t bounce back like many expected.

The top four race could become even tighter after dropping further points this season and attention now turns to Tuesday night’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Liverpool.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media felt compelled to stick up for Pedro for his latest performance, as he’s often an individual that receives a fair amount of criticism.

The 32-year-old attacker has been involved more recently due to injuries to Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic.

He’s not quite the dazzling forward he once was at Barcelona or in the earlier days of his Stamford Bridge career, but he worked extremely hard at Bournemouth and his saved shot was headed in by Alonso for the equaliser.
