In order to sign some of the big-name players Chelsea are reportedly considering in the summer, they will be more than aware that they will need to part ways with some of those already at the club first.

The Blues’ bloated first team squad saw a number of players exit on loan, some of whom only joined the club the transfer window before.

Joao Felix and Renato Veiga made moves to Serie A just six months after joining, with there so far being no clarity over their long-term futures.

One position Chelsea fans would love their side to strengthen is between the sticks, with the two first team goalkeepers costing the clubs crucial points in their race for Champions League football.

Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen have both come in for criticism this season, with the former currently seen as the Premier League first team goalkeeper.

Chelsea prepared to ‘say goodbye’ to Robert Sanchez

The most frustrating thing for Blues fans has been the fact that the best performing shot stopper they have on their books is Djordje Petrovic, who is currently on loan at Strasbourg.

It has previously been reported that Chelsea will do a full review of their options for goalkeepers this summer, however one of those options could be on the way out.

According to Voetbal Krant, the Blues are preparing to say goodbye to Sanchez this summer, potentially clearing the way for either Petrovic or youngster Mike Penders to become the new number one.

Enzo Maresca’s thoughts on goalkeeper situation

Enzo Maresca has frequently defender whoever has been his starting goalkeeper this season, even when they have been making costly errors.

Behind the scenes though, he is not so convinced. Maresca is demanding a new goalkeeper be available for him ahead of next season.

The boss wants someone who is able to play with the ball at his feet, something which orginally caused worries that the Serbian would be able to make it this season.

However, Petrovic’s passing stats have improved, and given the incredible records he is setting over in Ligue 1 he looks the perfect option for the Blues to build with right now.
