Manager Frank Lampard has confirmed (official Twitter) that Hudson-Odoi and James are available to him on the weekend.

The academy graduates have both been absent at the beginning of the season through injury, but have been integrated back in recent weeks with games at youth level.

The exciting duo both scored in mid-week during a 7-1 victory over Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup and are now pushing for a spot in the league XI.

“They are in the squad. They performed well the other day, delighted for them to score. It was good for the home fans to see Reece, great to see Callum back,” Lampard said, as quoted by Football.London.

Hudson-Odoi, 18, has already given Blues fans a glimpse of what he can do at senior level last season and he returns to fitness fresh after signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

The English winger is expected to play a key role for Lampard’s side this season when back up to full speed and using him off the bench against Brighton could work well.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old James spent last year impressing out on loan with Wigan Athletic and he’s now back to compete for a senior position.

The attack-minded right-back was brilliant in mid-week against Grimsby and that was his senior debut for the Blues.

There is already a lot of excitement about what he can achieve in West London, but he’s yet to play in the top-flight and needs time to force his way in ahead of club captain Cesar Azpilicueta.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are thrilled the young pair are back this weekend and would like to see them both unleashed.
