Chelsea were beaten at home to Manchester United in their recent Premier League match – but did at least find some positivity in the performance from Olivier Giroud from the bench.
Frank Lampard’s side had previously suffered two defeats to United this season, which were on the opening day of the league season at Old Trafford and also in the League Cup fourth round.

The Blues once again fell short on Monday night by losing 2-0 at Stamford Bridge against them in the league.
Anthony Martial headed the visitors in front just before half-time to give them a lead.
Harry Maguire then powered in a second-half header to double the advantage, but there was some controversy over the fact that VAR didn’t intervene to send him off in the first-half when he appeared to kick out at Michy Batshuayi on the floor.
Chelsea also saw Kurt Zouma and Giroud goals chalked off by VAR to frustrate supporters and the poor form at home continues.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media did at least feel that Giroud had a great cameo from the bench.
The 33-year-old striker ended the action midway through the second period and scored a great low leader, but he was offside by the barest of margins.
He also showed some quality moments around the box with his link up play and will hope he can force his way into the XI next week for a vital match against Tottenham.

It was only the eighth appearance of the season in all competitions for the Frenchman and his first Premier League outing since November.
Fourth-placed Chelsea are only a point above upcoming opponents Spurs in fifth and it’s a vital team selection for manager Lampard.
