Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is reportedly on the verge of securing a move to Premier League rivals Everton on loan – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have given a delighted response to the speculation.

According to ESPN, the 22-year-old is “close” to joining Everton on a season-long loan ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

The report explains that the Merseyside giants are in pole position for the in demand centre-back, who has also attracted interest from Rennes and Newcastle United.

Tomori is an academy graduate that has come through the Chelsea youth ranks and he was promoted to the senior squad last season, after working with current boss Frank Lampard the previous year during a loan with Derby County.

The English defender impressed in his 22 first-team games for the Blues, as he showed great pace in his defensive recoveries and also composure on the ball.

He did find himself slip down the pecking order in the second half of the season, so perhaps a season out on loan gaining regular top-flight experience could be a great step for his career.
