Chelsea fans react on Twitter to Mykhailo Mudryk’s performance vs Aston Villa

Blues winger Mykhailo Mudryk’s wasteful performance proved costly as Chelsea suffered a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.

It was another disappointing night for Mudryk who returned to the starting line-up ahead of Christian Pulisic amid Raheem Sterling’s injury absence.

He had a relatively quiet night compared to his teammates, having only touched the ball 21 times in the 57 minutes he was on the pitch.

Some of those touches, however, were the best goalscoring chances Chelsea had in the game.

Graham Potter’s men had 27 attempts on goal, but only three of them were from big chances.

Mudryk missed two of these big chances in the first half.

On a positive note, the Ukraine international is getting into dangerous positions using his pace, but on the other hand, those misses were baffling for a player of his calibre.

Chelsea fans on social media had different views about Mudryk’s poor performance.

Some seemed to lose faith in the player himself, while others pointed their finger at the manager and his tactics.

Obviously, it is impossible for a player who scored regularly for his previous club in Ukraine’s first division and the Champions League to suddenly lose his goalscoring ability.

It might have been confidence, it might have been the pressure to score in this Chelsea side, which has had a very poor attacking record overall.
