Chelsea secured a vital win at home to Leicester City on Tuesday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter picked out Antonio Rudiger for huge praise after his performance.

The Blues avenged their FA Cup final defeat to Leicester City by beating the Foxes 2-1 tonight at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s win saw them leapfrog opponents Leicester into third in the league standings, and that leaves them in pole position to qualify for the Champions League going into their final game of the season away to Aston Villa.

Rudiger, 28, opened the scoring for the hosts early in the second half as his touch ricocheted into the net.

Jorginho’s penalty in the 66th minute turned out to be the match-winner for Chelsea, who had to hold on nervously at the end after Kelechi Iheanacho pulled one back for the visitors with 15 minutes remaining.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media named Rudiger as the standout individual.

As well as scoring, the German centre-back was effective in his defensive work and is a huge positive influence in the XI.

His form has been back to its best since Thomas Tuchel took charge as manager, which is why right now he’s a nailed-on starter.
