Callum Hudson-Odoi played 90 minutes for England’s Under-21s side on Tuesday night – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter were thrilled with the quality of his international performance.

The Blues attacker assisted one in a 2-1 victory against Austria Under-21s and looked one of the most threatening individuals on the pitch for Aidy Boothroyd’s team.

Hudson-Odoi got some vital minutes in his legs ahead of Chelsea’s first game of the Premier League season, which is next Monday night away to Brighton.

The 19-year-old is usually a dazzling winger in the Chelsea side, but was deployed in a central number 10 role by England and created a lot of danger to the opposition with his pace and directness.

He was battling to force his way into Frank Lampard’s XI last season at Stamford Bridge and the arrival of some top-class talents in the transfer window could make his job even harder.

But the Blues academy graduate has shown he’s got the individual quality to play at the highest level, with his dribbling so illusive and his trickery elite.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media were impressed with Hudson-Odoi’s display on the international stage and some are expecting him to carry on that kind of form into the new Premier League season.
